Teaching

My interest in teaching began when I was in college studying photography. During my senior year I began taking graduate classes within the Arts Education Program at The University of the Arts, where I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography. I decided being an art teacher was not for me and didn’t enter the program. When I started Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory in 1996, my interest was 100% in the educational aspect of boat building. I am drawn to hands-on and experiential education. Since I began teaching at Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory I have taught thousands of young people and adults boat building.
